I am writing to you because I need your help. I know that you are environmental persons and that you may have friends that also are environmentally concerned about issues. We are in a huge bind.

As you know, Jeff, Joyce and I are still working with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (who governs the coal mine) to try to protect the last 5 to-600 acres of the Great Chandler Woods they have decimated and turned into flat lands. You see, the IDNR is not fully abiding by their own rules....they are ignoring all of our issues brought up to them. We virtually have stopped the coal mine for 6 and a half years until now. We hired an environmental lawyer back in 2005 and a member of the National Sierra club has also stepped in to help both financially and with knowledge support. We have yet another (possibly) final meeting with the IDNR and Coal Company this Jan. 28th at 6 p.m. at the Industry Elementary School. Here is my plea......is there anyway that any of you could attend and bring everyone you know just as concerned citizens? You do NOT have to speak unless you are so moved to. I am going to make a huge proposal with the half a million dollars our GOVERNOR has granted them - to utilize an alternative method of clean energy while still promoting jobs instead of destroying the rest of this forest. We have had expert biologists confirm that there are endangered species still in this forest and the US fish and wild life services has advised that this permit NOT be granted, yet the state proceeds with the governor's blessings (you may make your own speculation here). PLEASE, can you gather anyone to attend? I have so much information on this. We have a whole room or our valid research all documented by scientists....it is our last ditch effort.....feel free to phone me. 309-333-0126. Thank you so very much. Oh, they have just started bulldozingand burning the forest despite the litigation as we speak. Jeff has watched the forest animals and birds migrating in numbers. We only have 16% of our natural forests left. They are hurriedly proceeding prior to the governor's impeachment....can you be there with anyone, including students, children, grandparents? You only have to be a spectator and the more present, the better.

Respectfully for the endangered species at stake, the Federally endangered birds, and the Grindstone Creek that is being dumped into and degraded to a dead stream per our aquatic fish studies,,
