URGENT APPEAL
Strip Mine Near Industry Threatens Last Old Forests in McDonough County

Tonight, Wednesday at 6pm, at Industry Elementary School, there is a special public hearing on the proposed strip mine of the Chandler Timbers area.

If you drink water, farm, garden, bird watch, hunt, fish or drive the roads of McDonough County, please take a minute to listen to Jeff Biggers' WIUM radio commentary on the proposed strip mine for the natural heritage and historic site of the Great Chandler Timbers near Industry.  We urgently need to protect our watersheds from contamination by toxic minerals, protect our rural roads from overburdened coal haulers, protect our last great forests in the area, andendangered species, and develop a recreational heritage site for everyone in the county.
