[FIG-ALL] A food coop for Macomb

Hi everybody,

Some of you know and support Macomb's food buying club, the Macomb  
Munchers.  Although I have only been a member for 6 months I have  
enjoyed the access to a wide range of healthy foods and earth- 
friendly products.  Macomb Munchers needs some new leaders to step  
forward and help run the club.  I am hoping that someone out there  
who reads FIG messages will read Heather McIlvaine's message below  
and get involved in supporting and sustaining a valuable institution  
of our local food system.  I am fully aware that the food in this  
case may not be local, but our local food system is made more  
sustainable by the responsible, year-round purchasing power of a club  
like the Macomb Munchers.

Message from Heather:
Dear all,

Many of us have enjoyed and benefited from our local food buying  
club, the Macomb Munchers (MM).  Since its establishment in some  
thirty years ago, members have come and gone, but the MM cooperative  
has survived.  In the last four years the MM has undergone some  
dramatic changes including the incorporation of a streamlined online  
ordering and delivery system that generally results in an unloading  
and delivery time that takes less than one hour.  For those who  
remember the previous system that used to take hours, this is a  
remarkable advancement.

Now we are facing yet another change.

Tawyna Adkins Covert, who spearheaded the online ordering system is  
stepping down as the ordering & delivery coordinator.  As per a  
previous email she has asked members of the MM cooperative to assume  
resposibility for this task.  Joy McQuillan has indicated that she  
can take over this role part time, but would need assistance during  
the months she is out of town.  As of yet, no one has indicated that  
they can take on this role.

If by the end of this month no one is willing and able to assist Joy,  
the MM will no longer be placing orders.  Michael Newsad is willing  
to continue to serve in the role as treasurer of the MM, but we still  
need someone else to assist Joy.  Please consider what this  
organization means to you and your family and check out the youtube

I hope that the MM will continue to exist and that I can place an  
order for September.
